I realized today is Panchami and casually told my husband that if I get permission from my office, I would like to go to Varahi Amman Temple at Tin Factory. And he told me that it was Vasant panchami today (Feb 14, 2024). I was pleasantly surprised how he know but he did. We have many times discussed how Panchami thithi is auspicious for Varahi Amman but i googled about Vasant Panchami and this is what I got –
Vasant Panchami, a vibrant Hindu festival, ushers in spring’s warmth and the celebration of knowledge and creativity. Marking the fifth day of the bright fortnight in Magha month, it’s also known as Saraswati Puja, honoring the goddess of wisdom, speech, and music.
Significance:
Spring’s Arrival: Dressed in yellow, the color of blossoming mustard fields, Vasant Panchami signifies nature’s renewal. It’s a joyous occasion, filled with kite flying, poetry recitals, and music renditions.
Goddess Saraswati: Devotees offer pujas to Saraswati, seeking blessings for academic pursuits and artistic endeavors. Children start their formal education on this day, symbolizing the beginning of lifelong learning. You can also do simple Saraswati pooja at home to get Her blessings completely.
New Beginnings: Vasant Panchami is auspicious for initiating new ventures and projects. It’s believed that blessings received on this day will flourish throughout the year.
Along with Saraswati Pooja, we can also our Varahi Panchami pooja and chant Varahi mantra.
