We having been seeing many posts on Varahi amman and this Varahi Panchami Pooja post is another one in the series. Varahi amman is one of the saptamatrikas who is also the army chief of Goddess Rajarajeshwari. Worshipping Varahi Amman will help the worshiper win legal battles, earn a good profit in farming, remove all negative energies and black magic around them, and finally give courage and strength. While She is also considered as a Ugra deivam like Kali, both of them have one thing in common – when it comes to their worshipers who have justice in their prayers and love in their hearts, they are caring mothers who will protect the worshiper by all means.
It has been quite a few years since I had started praying Varahi amman. I started by praying her in the form of deepa by invoking her on to a diya. Then, got a picture of her and now I have a small Varahi Amman idol. It is considered highly auspicious to do Varahi Devi pooja on Amavasya, Poorni, Pachami and Ashtami days – Panjami being the best of all. Today being Panchami (May 25, 2023) I did Kumkuma Archanai for her to overcome my problems and to thank for being with me and giving me the courage and strength through thick and thin.
How to do Varahi Panchami Pooja at home:
- Place a red cloth and then keep Varahi Devi idol on altar above the cloth and decorate her with flowers.
- Light a 5 face dhiya
- Offer neivedhiya like sweet potato or pomegranate.
- Offer water
- Put forward your prayer with a clean and sincere heart.
- Recite a ganesha mantra asking for his blessing for the smooth conduct of varahi pooja, then pray your kula devta, then your ishta devta.
- Now, do the kumkuma archanai by telling “Sri varahi ammaney potri om” 108 times. You can also find many 108 varahi amman potri om online. You can chant them as well. Use a rosary mala to keep count of the number of times.
- Once the archanai is over, show camphor arti and dhoop. (Best if you use dasangam powder and panchakavya vilakku.
- Later, end the pooja with a mangalam song
During the pooja, you can also chant Varahi Gayatri Mantra or Varahi Moola Mantra.
It is best to avoid having non-veg on the day of pooja.
You can do this pooja during both thei pirai as well as valarpirai

Having a Varahi amman picture or idol is one’s personal choice and I have both a framed picture and Varahi amman statue in my home. On days when it is possible, I do abishekam or archanai on other days, it is the regular lighting of dhiya.
