Vinayagar Agaval is a devotional poem written by the Tamil poet Avvaiyar in the 10th century during the Chola dynasty. It is considered to be her greatest poem and is a form of blank verse, close to speech. The poem is a hymn to the Hindu deity Ganesha and begins with the contemplation of the divine form of Ganesha and slowly leads us to the subtle aspects of Yoga. The poem is a short one, consisting of 72 lines. It is believed that whoever sings this hymn gets rid of all kinds of obstacles in their life.
