Varahi Amman is one of the sapta matrikas who served as the army head of Goddess Rajarajeshwari. Praying Her is believed to keep enemies away and ward off all black magic. One of the very powerful goddesses, she is celebrated for standing by the side of justice and protecting her devotees from any harm. The following is how I did a simple Varahi amman pooja at home on the Ashtami of Ashada Navaratri 2022-
Can you pray varahi amman at home?
Yes, you can definitely keep a picture of Varahi amman and pray everyday at home. If you keep an idol, you should doing proper poojas and abhishekams regularly.
How to do Varahi Amman Pooja at home?
- Start the pooja at around 8.00 PM.
- Place the picture of Amman. Decorate her picture or idol with flowers.
- Light a dhiya and incense stick.
- Offer a prasad. I have offered boiled potatoes here. You can also keep any boiled root vegetable like sweet potatoes or tapioca. If you plan to keep cooked items, you can keep puliogare, lemon rice, and vada.
- Start the prayer by seeking Ganesha’s blessings. Then, pray to your kula devta and ishta devta.
- Then start your Varahi Amman by invoking her(inviting her in the mind) to come to your home and to fulfill your wish.
- Pray with your full heart. You can sing songs about her, chant Varahi Gayatri Mantra, or do archani chanting her names.
- I chant Varahi Gayatri Mantra 108 times using a japa mala.
- Show karpoor aarti by ringing the bells.
- Finally, end your pooja.

Thank you so much. In the first place, I am no expert to tell you an exact number of how many days to do this Varahi amman pooja. However, I can tell you what I do – I think of some numbers in my mind like 3 new moon days, or may be 5 panchami days, or just one random day when I really want to Varahi amman’s support and love in my life and do the poojas as per my chosen days.
