Abirami Andhadhi – Kaapu meaning

May 16, 2020 by Vidhyaa Leave a Comment

Abirami Anthathi is one of the powerful songs in Tamil that is sung by Abirami Pattar. The song is sung is Andhadhi form which means the last word of one stanza is the first word of the following stanza. Awesome isn’t it.
Those who are starting to learn Abirami Andhadhi might find it difficult to memorize the wording due to the complexity of the language used in the song. Also, at many places, we can find references to several religious stories and when we know such divine stories, enjoying every word of Abirami Andhadhi is as tasty as Kaju Burfi. So, here is my humble attempt to simplifying the verses while also narrating the stories behind if any.
I am no expert and this is a layman’s attempt after reading many explanations and videos available on the internet. So, if I go wrong anywhere, readers who find the mistake, please correct me in the comment section so that we shall all learn together and get the Divine Mother’s blessings. So, here we go, as the poem starts with Salutations to Ganapathi.

Lord Ganesha! The son of Lord Shiva who wears Kondrai and Shenbagagam flowers and presides at Thillai (today Chidambaram) and his better half, Devi Umaiyaal!

Ganesha – the one who has a dark cloud-like skin complexion

Mother Abirami is the one who created all the seven world and please bestow your(Lord Ganesha’s) blessings, so that the most scared Anthathi of hers always stays in my mind
